Best of DIY 2014

Caro from this website and Misses Cherry , asked for a best of DIY in 2014. Here are my favorite DIY of this year.

I sewed a lot of bags. Most of them cause of the TS II sew along with Emma and farbenmix. I love the "Hunter and Prey" costume with the dead zebra bag.

And of cause I sewed a lot of clothes, sometimes even for myself. But most clothes are for the kid's.

The king sized blanket and the matching pillow for my daugther was the first huge project in 2014.

And I sewed much of presents. Most of all is the relaxing neck pillow from Sew4Home.

Christmas Review Part VI

So that's the last presents I sewed for Christmas. I sewed a relaxing neck pillow for a boy and two others for a girl. The pattern is from Sew4Home and is free. For the kid's I resized the pattern to 80 %.

And all of these preparations for Christmas are the reason why you don't hear or read something from me in the last month :o)

Christmas Review Part III

For my mother-in-law I sewed a "Sew Together Bag" for her knitting needles and other needlework stuff. This time I sewed the bag a little bit larger than the first one and it only wracked me two needles of my sewing machine ;o)

Shake your Hair

As a birthday present, for a friend of my daugther, I sewed a stuffed toy. I made a similar one for my nephew -> here. The desired colors are blue and with stars.

This stuffed toy has also some hair made of some fabric scraps. Great for incredible hairstyles.

A Little Tutorial

Behind the scenes I made some presents for Christmas but I can't show these presents at this time. But I can show you a little tutorial for an application like this. These applications are great for personalized presents.

When I sewed the Chillax pillow I took some pictures for this tutorial. I'm sure that there is an easier way, however that's my way of making a handwritten application.

Here we start:

At first I consider about the size of the application. In this example I took the size of the grey fabric.

I wrote the word "Chillax" on a paper that has the same size as the grey fabric. I try different typefaces, till I was happy with my written word.

On a scrap of plastic foil I wrote the word again and put the paper aside.

Under the foil I place a red fabric and under the whole fabric sandwich I place a paper towel.

With a small regular stich I sewed along the line on the foil.

Again I sewed along the line, but this time I took a very small zigzag stich.

I removed the foil and the paper towel carefully.

At last I took some sharp scissors, cut away the red fabric around the zigzag stich and finished the pillow.

 You're done!!

The boy grows...

...and grows. And based of this he needed some new shirts. I sewed a hoodie made of a free pattern from here. On this pattern I only changed the length. I shorten this hoodie by approximately 20 centimeters. Now I must sew some pajamas :o)

A tutorial for such a stuffed toy can you find on the website of  Marja Katz.

Wallet for Heros

For a boy who had his very first day at school I sewed a little wallet for the bus ticket and some money. The pattern is made by myself and the fabric is taken from a suprise package from "Micha's Stoffecke" and is called "Supahero". Have I told you that I love surprise packages?

Reversible Bag

As a birthday present I sewed a reversible bag. I took the free pattern from here, a pair of pants that no longer wear and a fabric with flowers all over. One of these flowers is attached on the outside (or inside...whatever). And here is the bag.

Week Four: Wallets

It's already week four of Emma's fabric downsizing project. This week it's all about wallets. I sewed some little wallets for a birthday party as a giveaway. The pattern is called "Miniminibörse" from MelFei.

I sewed some of these wallets without the pocket for banknotes.

And here from the inside...

I hope the guests like their little giveaway ;o)
