Elsa Dress

The kindergarten teacher of my son asked me if I can sew a dress or skirt for the older kids in the kindergarten. Of course I can. I know that some sisters from a disney movie are the favorite figures for girls in the age from 2-6 years. First I draw a sketch to see how it supposed to look. Than I took turqouise brocade fabric, light blue satin and some other fabric and arranged them as shown in the drawing, to a beautiful dress. For the waist and the neckline I used elastic band to make sure that the dress fits all girls in the kindergarten. From some other fabric I sewed also a skirt. The girls now really happy and sing "Let it go...." all the time.

Sorry for the bad pictures, there were made in the morning before I bring the dress and skirt into the kindergarten.

Advent Wreath 2015

Our Advent Wreath in this year is very simple. I took a star shaped tray and put some turquoise organza fabric on it. Than I arranged the candles, fir branches, turquoise tree decoration and some silver stars I made long time ago.

Last year I sewed some pillows for the grandparents of my kids. I took a fabric with several prints on it. My kids grab some fabric paint and make the fabric colorful.

I took the colored fabric and sewed two pillows of each fabric. What a perfect Christmas gift.

Cosy Sweat Shirts

For my kid´s I sewed some cosy shirts. For both sweaters I took the same fabric combination.

I tried to took a photo with both of the kid´s wearing this shirt, but I think that´s impossible. One of this shirts is always in the washing machine or one of the kid´s has no pleasure to take a photo.

pattern: Comet Mialuna
modification on this pattern: huge collar instead of a hood, ties of the smaller shirt are fixed at the collar for safety

Cosmetic Case

A long time ago I buyed a pattern for a cosmetic case. The pattern was printed and... store away in a folder. From time to time I sort my patterns and found the cosmetic case pattern again. My daughter saw it and wanted such a case for all of her polish stuff. So I hope she is happy with her new case.

Canvas Tree

My daughter found a nice idea on the Pinterest website and she has to made it immediately, of cause.

Such a tree is easy to make. You only need canvas, an exacto knife and black acrylic paint. On the back side of the canvas you draw a tree. Make sure that the branches has contact to the frame. With an exacto knife you cut the outlines. Turn the canvas and paint it black ;o)
Now you have a nice decoration, for example on Helloween.

Recipe: Waffins

Today I want to share the recipe for my waffins with you. Waffins are little cakes, baked in a cup made of waffles. I called them waffins, cause of the modified muffin dough in waffles - waffins ;o)

These little cakes are a nice giveaway for birthdays in the kindergarten or school. My german readers can find the link to these recipe at the end of this post.

We need:

48 waffle cups (I found it in store near the cookie shelf )
120g  smooth butter
150g sugar
1 vanillesugar
2 eggs
150g flour
1 pinch salt
1 tbs baking soda
2 tbs cacao
100g cremé fraiche
choclate coating
topping- for example: smarties, m&ms or sprinkles

Lets start:

In one bowl stir the butter with the sugar and the vanillesugar until it`s creamy. Stir the eggs seperatly under the creamy butter.

In another bowl mix  flour, baking soda, cacao and salt. Now mix up the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mix. At last you lace the cremé fraiche.

Put the waffle cups on a baking tin and the dough in a decoration bag. Fill the waffles to 2/3 and bake it with 170 C° for 15-20 min.

While baking the dough comes almost out of the cups. No panic- after cooling down it`s already in the normal size and you can decorate them with choclate coating and sprinkles or smarties or...

For my german readers the recipe is also find in my cookbook here.

I was invited to a marriage of a friend of mine. As a little present I sewed a heart shaped key chain for the couple. With my sewing machine I stitched the names onto it. I like to sew such little gifts.
